Set Clip Speed To

40.00%

To get perfectly smooth slow motion (where every frame of your source file is played back 1-to-1 on your timeline), set your clip speed to 40.00%.

In Premiere Pro:

  1. Right-click your clip on the timeline
  2. Select Speed/Duration...
  3. Enter 40.00% in the Speed box

How does slow motion work?

Smooth slow motion happens when you play high frame rate footage (like 60fps) on a lower frame rate timeline (like 24fps).

To get 1-to-1 frame playback, you must reduce the clip speed to the exact ratio of the two frame rates.

Use this calculator to find that exact percentage for Premiere Pro's Speed/Duration tool.

Frequently asked questions

Premiere will have to duplicate frames or use Optical Flow to create fake frames, which can look choppy or artifacted.
